Katowice is a city east of Krakow, in the Silesian province of southern Poland. A large dome crowns the Cathedral of Christ the King. The adjacent Archdiocesan Museum exhibits Silesian sacred art. Historians suggest that Katowice was founded on the right bank of the Rawa river by Andrzej Bogucki in around 1580.
